Signing of the MOU with Internet Service Providers
A significant step toward digital sovereignty and infrastructure resilience was taken on Tuesday 13th May 2025, as The Cable, City Wi-Fi, and the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to formalize their partnership as the founding members of the National Internet Exchange Point (IX). Other organisations have signed including Packet Clearing House (PCH), ArKiTechs Inc. and MCNET Solutions. DOT is currently in discussions with other service providers to come on bound including FLOW, DIGICEL.
SKNIX provides a neutral facility where members can establish direct interconnections of their networks. By so doing, the members and their customers will benefit from improved quality of service including faster, more reliable and lower latency internet connectivity.
The internet exchange is also expected to lay the foundation for the development of local internet services such as colocation and local content development, hosting and distribution.This platform for local education services, financial transactions, digital content creators, entrepreneurs. It provides Disaster Resilience.
